Getting the Wheeling Fever
Anyone have any problems installing one in a front solid axle? I finished one and am having problems getting the short axle in the diff. Now this unit did fit after some work and the long side shaft fits quite well. The short side appears to be hitting the e-locking collar on the diff. Am I doing something wrong here? The rear had no problems what so ever. Only problem is getting that short side axle in place.

Solid axle I assume.
Can you get spline engagement at all?
Birf stuck out too far?

If it's a "little" long, you can cut off a small amount from the splines from the axle shaft on the diff side.

If it's not slipping in at all, keep workin' it I guess.
Pushing down on the axle at the seal, to make the axle tip up on the inside. Reach over to your driveshaft and rock it back and forth a little.

Usually the reason axles won't go in is because of a bent housing. Did the axle come out easily when you took it apart?

Other than that you just need to keep stabbing at it while rotating the pinion a little.

If you have to ask about a SAS, you're not ready for it.

Yeah everything was going to plan until the short side axle had to go in. Nothing is bent and the axle pulled out as it normally should. I know it is hitting the diff locking collar as I can see the marks where I have been hitting up against it with the axle. I will get back on it this weekend. I had to walk away from it as it was beginning to get to me. I was just curious to know if anyone else has had any axle problems. thanks

Do you have the knuckles tightened down? When you do that, you squeeze the ball and there's not as much room for the birf to wiggle around when you're trying to get it in. I had that problem and I thought my 2nd housing was bent. Loosened it up and the birf with right in.

I did that myself actually. Loosen the knuckle caps alot, then go again. ZUK showed me that one.
