My understanding is that aftermarket shocks like KYB are stiffer than factory. I also understand that factory shocks are supposed to be designed for optimum ride caracteristics (handling AND comfort). I have to drive over about two miles of rough unpaved road every day before getting to pot holed pavement. The ride in my new Monero with factory shocks is pretty darned good comfortwise over this section compaired to the other vehicles I?ve used over this stretch (Vitara w/coil springs all around and Mazda 4x4 truck w/torsion bar front and rear leaf). So my question is this: since my goal is to experience the least possible stomach pounding jounce over the gullies, washboard and rocks am I better off with factory or say KYB Monomax aftermarket shocks (the goal remember is the most comfort via reduced jounce)?
