Hey Everyone <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />
Im about it install my lift. Does anyone know if it matters which way to install the rear shocks? Cylinder up or down?

Seems like a sensible question, so as to avoid fuc*ing it up and having to re do it. It is always better to ask first then to do it and have to re do it. If mem serves correctly the rod should point <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif" alt="" /> striate <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/pfft.gif" alt="" /> to the ground. The body (cyc) should have the largest part toward the sky.

Ahaa! So it wasn't a joke? You really never have seen a shock absorber before. Your other vehicle or even your motorcycle doesn't have shocks to look at?

good luck! Don't hesitate to post any questions you might have about the install, or at least let us know how it went.

Oh yeah...don't the TJs have a stud on one end of the shock? If so there is only one way they would fit.

Big Jim,

So what is the proper way to install a shock. Over the years I have installed shocks both ways and cannot tell a difference. On my cj I have installed them with the fat side down(ground) and the skinny side up. To avoid the possibility of breaking the skinny rod. What are your thoughts. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
