So what is the proper way to install a shock. Over the years I have installed shocks both ways and cannot tell a difference. On my cj I have installed them with the fat side down(ground) and the skinny side up. To avoid the possibility of breaking the skinny rod. I could be wrong but i think you would want to put the "fat side" up because if it gets punctured it would be useless and i dont think that "skinny rod" breaks easily. Just a thought. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
