Here's some progress on my expedition Land Cruiser build project.

Just added the OME 2.5" lift with 850 heavy front springs and 860 medium rear springs. OME shocks are still on transit, so I'm running on stockers.

Tires are Goodyear MTR 285/75R-16s. Basically 33x11.5 or there abouts.

Front bumper is Slee Off Road's design. Warn M8000 will be installed in a few days.

So far, I have the duel battery system installed, radios, gps, laptop mount and rear Slee African Outback touring drawers in the cargo area.

Funny enough, the thing sits about as high as my truck did, but of course it handles WAAAAAAY better.

More later.....

Are you planning on a auxiliary fuel tank? What kind of mileage are you getting?

Thanks. I wanted to get the basics done before spring/summer gets here, so it will be ready for any trips. From here on out, the build will go a little slower.

That's a good possibility. Gas mileage is really pretty bad. I've seen as low as 9-10 mpg and as high as almost 16, but it's usually in the very low teens with normal driving. I'm still running the original spark plugs, cap and rotor and it could probably use a tune up. But with a 25 gallon tank, range could still be as little as 200 miles, which just isn't going to cut it.

I'm am considering some kind of auxiliery tank option for the future. The options are fairly limited though. The companies that import them from Oz are all currently out of stock, except for the tank that replaces the stock tank with a 38 gallon version. I don't really like that option. The factory OEM 13 gallon subtank would be perfect, but that option is becoming pretty darn rare and/or extremely expensive.

There's a 25 gallon tank that someone makes that goes in the spare tire location. If I can ever find one of them, I'd probably go for it. There's also a 44 gallon version, but that's too big. 13 or 25 gallons would be plenty for me. Unfortunately NWMP doesn't make a Land Cruiser tank as that would be a great option too.

Meanwhile, I'm stashing some 2.5 gallon Wedco cans on any trips I take. The Wedco cans are air tight. No fumes in the interior and the smaller cans are easier to fill with.

Looks sweet! I really like that front bumper. Overall the truck looks smaller than i would think with 33's under it. Probably because theres no offset on the rims.. I think it'd look sick if you got some 1 or 2" offsets - but thats personal preference of course. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I forget.. did you sell your pickup?

If you have to ask about a SAS, you're not ready for it.

Hey Brian, looking good! I'll be curious how it rides once you get the shocks to go with it (unless you already have). I am debating a lift, I suspect with the 285's I'll get some rubbing.

Slee does awesome work, but I think I may be one of the few (or only) that just does not like the look of that bumper. I know it's stout and offers great protection / great approach, but it doesn't look good IMHO. I wonder if he'd do one w/o the side hoops.
