Need a Spot
Hey y'all, 1st post, what should a guy look for in a early
rodeo or trooper? As far as engine, trans, etc. What should
I stay away from too?
I'm looking for a daily driver, that will see mild offroad
use.
I'm looking to spend $3000. to $4000.
Thank's for any advice!

What do you mean by "early" ?

if you mean the old boxy troopers, at this point all you can possibly hope for is "not beat to hell or rusted through"

Early meaning, 1990 and up, is there any engine/tranny
I should be wary of?
In AZ rust isn't much of a problem.

I just married my sister and we need an SUV to haul my
nephew's/stepkids around.

I'm a toyota guy myself, but sis/honey say's the yota's
are to expensive!!!

ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!!

wha?

umm... in 92 the engine got much more powerful and they dropped the 4cyl entirely. the pre-1992 engines seem about the same for power, 4cyl and 6cyl. both gutless but reliable.

If you go with a Rodeo I'd go for a 93+ to avoid the 3.1L. Since your in AZ you'll be able to find some pretty rust free older rigs that us saltbelt dwellers could never dream of.

I call this an April Fools Day joke.

Married your sister? Who's playing the prank?

Either way, go with a Trooper, you can get a super sweet one, with a SAS, small block V8 and a tow capicity of 10,000# Plus with seating for 15 like an Express van, there should be plenty of room for all the nephews/stepkids.

I'm not trying to prank anyone, but I had a few beers
before I posted that, and thought I was being funny!

Actually my mom is looking for a mid-90's suv (Isuzu,
Nissan, or Toyota). I'm trying to get some answers
for the bombardment (dictionary for that word) of
questions she's asking.

I believe the Isuzu's are good vehicles. I can go
with her to generaly inspect a truck, but can't say
don't buy one with this motor, tranny, etc.

Any opinions are welcome!!!

Well if its for your mom I would go with either a rodeo in 93 or newer or a nissan pathfinder would be a good buy aswell. I have had 2 nissan hardbodies and my brother and father both have one and they are good vehicles.
