FYI:

For the first time since I bought my 2001 I had it serviced(including 60K maintenance) by a trusted Mechanic that just services Toyota. He stated the following:

He has seen the 2001 Tacomas need new timing belts and water pumps prior to the 90K Toyota reccommends. I had him replace it and he found the water pump was leaking a little.

In addition the tacomas emergency brakes have been sticking, he checked and found mine were. Something about the rear brake pivots, only cost $70. Strange since I never use my emergency brake.

He also did the following: Replace left inner tie rod, replaced exhaust hardware and gaskets, fixed the front brakes that a brake shop screwed up for me
