If you have an external voltage regulator on that '84, you BEST do your homework for application.

Can you compare what the readings should be compared to stock if you had to troubleshoot it?

The ignition/charging systems changed over around 84/85 from the external voltage regulator to the internal one for the alternator; IIRC, the coil/ignitors aren't the same.

Still about 2' of snow on ol' Belle, so I ain't gonna look right now.

Open your hood and take a look; ain't that hard to figure out an install.

I double checked 5 diferent web sites. They all say it workes. I just don't know where to start. I was just thinking that someone here has made this ignition upgrade.

Here is a pic of the ignition upgrade i just made on the Vette. This one was a piece of cake.

I'm using that coil in an 88, drop in replacement.

That LS motor in the Corvetter is COP (Coil On Plug) - it'd require a bit of an ignition system redesign... :-)

I use a MSD blaster in my 87.

Hooked up just like stock.

i use that coil in my 94, it was a bit more complicated to set up. i got a junkyard ignitor that matched my wiring harness, and one of the older style with the ring terminals. i cut off most of the old-style connectors and soldered on the new style so i could still plug everything into my truck harness without cutting it anywhere, and i swapped it out with my original ignitor, used the ring terms to connect to the coil. i also switched to a 91 cap and rotor which allowed me to run the MSD wires. ive heard of people opening up the plug gap and advancing the timing a few degrees with this setup, anyone done this with good results?
my engine is set up for as much low end as i can get out of it and until i re-gear i cant afford to lose any of that.

first off, [edit], my original ignitor took a crap so it had to come out anyways. i decided when i did this to upgrade the ignitiion a little bit, keep the wiring harness stock and get rid of those stupid snap-lok spark plug wire connectors. and for about $10 at the junkyard + a coil and wires(alot cheaper and better quality than the jacobs stuff they make for 92-up wires) i got what i wanted. hey, lets all just use stock parts on all of our trucks, why bother to experiment, tinker or learn anything?

That kind of response is not welcome on this forum. You might want to do your posting over on Pirate4x4.com. I just thought you might like to know, since you only have 6 posts over here. -- Matt
