Body Damage is Cool
So, I'm going to be getting an '89 2wd pickup for a daily driver . What is involved to make the 2wd ifs have 6lugs? Obviously swapping the rear end is straight forward, but I'm not sure about up front. Can I use parts from my '86 4wd ifs to make this happen?

I wanna do this so that theres a stronger rear diff and so that I can use my 6lug rims. I'm not going to put in a 4wd drivetrain or anything.

Any info is appreciated,

Scerb

Most of the FSM's have both the 2wd and 4wd diagrams in them for the FA. Dig around for a comparision on how the rotors fit the spindle assembly, and the differences. You might have to go at least that far into it. That would be the place to start enyhoo. Compare the exploded diagrams.

hmm, thanks for the idea kewlynx. And ya, of course a SAS would doit, but I'm SAS'ing the blue truck instead .

I coulda sworn I heard of someone doing this... its obviously not a big deal, would just be nice to be able to use 1 of the 4 sets of tires I already have on 6lug rims.

I'm talking out my here, but here's what I would look into.

Look for a 92-95 2WD 4Runner. AFAIK, it was just the 4WD setup capped off without any axle shafts. Seems to me like you could bolt in the hub assembly at the ball joints. Maybe?

Dunno, but that's the closest maybe bolt in thing I can think of. Worth looking into, anyway.

2wd front ifs is completely different than 4wd IFS so I highly doubt it will just bolt up.

Look through these adapters

Sick Adam! If I end up doing this I'll probably go that route. Idk if its even worth 100 bucks.. I was hoping I could just use stuff I already have lying around.. thanks for the link though

The only other thing would be finding a dually version and swapping those spindles/hubs on.
Might be hard to find though.

Just a thought.
