...my gas tank! I have an 86 Troop. In the center (on the bottom) of the gas tank there is a dran plug. When I park there acummulates a small puddle of pitch black oil(or oily substance) under the dran plug, that smells of gas. And I mean pitch black, it stained my finger even after 2 washings. So I'm really confused. It is definitly under the drain plug, NOT the diff. On the drain plug itself was a clear (no hint of color) liquid that smelled also of gas.
What could this be?
HELP!
Oh and thanks

It's also probably dissolving any undercoating, plus the dirt, plus the grime.

So Is this a leaky gas tank? Is that plug for draining the gas? then do I just need to tighten it up a bit? or is there some sort of washer called for?
thx

Well...you are probably going to have to crawl under there and take a look. I can't quite see it from here.
There is a copper washer under the plug. Easy fix if that is the problem.
Good Luck, Michael
