thanks for the replies. Awesome body work! Once I start on them, I hope they turn out half decent. I'll post up pics of the completed doors when I'm done--which should be before summer.

Body work takes a lot of patience, it can be really frustrating if you try to ruch it. The best thing to do is take your time and be willing to redo it several times if you want it to be clean.

For those of you that paid a shop to make the snap-on windows: What was the approximate price? And how watertight are they? I may steal that idea they look awesome

Thanks,

Scerb

I think I paid $200, or so. The materials are completely waterproof, and glued some weatherstripping to the door itself. That worked great, and looks like this:

I paid around the same. I stole Mark's reach-in velcro-closure flap to reach the door handle (it is near the stock location, only facing up rather than in). I did not use weatherstripping, and it barely leaks anything - MAYbe a drop or two in a driving rain, no biggie. I really do wish I had put zippers in though, and may yet: when it is warm yet raining, or changeable weather that makes you not want to remove the windows, a zip-down option would be VERY convenient.

Oh, and Duplicolor cheap bed liner covers a multitude of sins as regards bodywork.

The pictures I posted were taken in 02, there has been a lot of trail time on the doors and the door panels where pretty beat up. I made some new ones and all new speakers in the rig front and rear. No, it is not a "Boomin" system but the type of music I listen to has more then bass to it. It sounds a lot better now. I also made some storage in the door panels this time.
