Just heliarc them and call it good.
The idea of a using a bar folder on that sounds good but I think the welds will keep it more rigid. Bending metal weakens it.

the welder took one look and said "that's aluminum". Keeping in mind that aluminum is more brittle than steel. Might not bend, but it might break.

Also Alum drags on rocks because it is softer. Some of the guys around these parts use alum as body protection on their jeeps, but there are not rocks here. Just Logs, and dirt, and washouts.
