With all the T-case talk i figured i would revive this post and post up my install since i bought Nathan's underdrive. Mine will be a bit different because I have the older Gen 2 with the AW2 trans, I plan on using a Dana 300 behind the underdrive but i might be getting a free NP231 this weekend and i will use that until i can afford a Dana 300 and rebuild. I'll try my best to document the swap as good as Nathan did but no guarantees

If anyone has a Gen I tranny out, can they please go count the splines and all that.
I guess if the 231 fits then the 242 with full time 4wd capability will fit too. You have to change out some of the input shaft stuff from the 231 to a 242, see google for that info. Guys do the swap into older cherokees all the time. Sooooo for you guys wanting to keep full time with selectable 2wd and 4wd modes and all that in your gen IIs or add full time 4wd to the gen 1's then this is a good deal? I am going to go ahead and start collecting the parts then talk SRTNate into helping me install this in my truck.

here is a link for those of you who dont know how to use google
SWAP

I plan on using a Dana 300

When I was ordering my doubler plate and shaft from DD Machine he talked me into giong with a 300 instead of another 231, and it was a wise choice. Twin sticks have been a big help on the trail.
I found my 300 through car-part.com for $75 shipped. Add $110 for the master overhaul kit, and $150 for a twin stick kit.

4:1 gearset for a D300 is $600
4:1 for a 231 $1000+ (still need sye too)
