Ok,
I was cruising all the web and ran into some posts in regards to the crank bolt falling out of various Toyota engines and causing no end of damage to the snout of crankshaft and causing mega bucks worth of repair costs.
I just put my 3VZE back in my '89 Runner and did not buy a new crank bolt. My FSM from '89 does not say that the crank bolt is a non-re-usable item. It specifies 181 ft-lbs for the torque.
On the web I find postings (yotatech.com) that indicate the bolt should be replaced and that the torque on later 3.4's was specified at 217 ft-lbs and that the bolt is non re-usable.
Any opinons on the relevence to the 3VZE? I have not problem tearing back into it and tightening/replacing that bolt.
