For you old timers who remember Robert's " 86 TD Air Trooper" I have some bad news and good news. The bad news. Roberts son decided to get crazy with the truck and make a tube buggy out of it. But after taking it all apart (Including many hours with a sawzall!) he lost interest. It has set in Roberts back yard for over a year. All Dissassemble like Johnny 5! Unfortunitly it has been pretty well gaurenteed that putting it back together in working order, like it was, is not an option. Too much damage to repair. Robert is just sick about it. But his wife is thrilled to have it out of the back yard. (Personally, I'm surprised she let it set there this long! :))
The good news, All of the parts we can still find, have found their way to my shop. I'm still scratching my head as to what to do with all of it. But, there is a certain 86 Trooper I have in the wings just begging for a Turbo Diesel Engine.
So I guess it's safe to say that although Air Trooper has met the grim reaper, it will live on in spirit by having it's major organs transplanted into various other vehicles.
Updates as they happen.
Curtis
p.s. Melissa, as you can imagine, is not too thrilled at my new aquisition! This makes 4 Troopers, one Rodeo, and an I Mark. But hey, I could still be racing! Then she'd really have something to gripe about.

That was a cool Trooper, hate to hear its met its demise At least some of it will survive through your project!
BTW, I need to get you, randii, Dan, and RobG together sometime for a conference about the finer points of finding a wife that will tolerate endless truck projects.

BTW, I need to get you, randii, Dan, and RobG together sometime for a conference about the finer points of finding a wife that will tolerate endless truck projects. For me I find being partially deaf helpfull! I can tune her out at will....... I have to remind her occasionally that I don't drink, smoke, do drug, carouse around, or gamble. And, my only vice is I like to collect trucks and motorcycles like toys and build them. Not to mention I built a shop big enough to put all my projects in and out of sight. The fact that it's 300 square feet bigger than the house I don't remind her of!!!!!! Did I mention I'm on wife # 2? This one is a school teacher and she has plenty of school things to do without me. I call it "Quality Shop Time"! Starting an argument is another way to get shop time! (Oops, Did I say that out loud?) Curtis

Curtis, what you need to do is build a big shop next to the tool shed you just finished.
I figures about 20,000 sqft will do.

That is indeed some very sad news about the venerable Air Trooper
*a moment of silence*
As for the rest of this thread... I've said it before, I'll say it again:
When I grow up, I wanna be Curtis Johnson!!! (selective hearing and all )

Six Isuzus, so far... still have three of them.
