Yep, you can run 33x12.5's on a stock Gen I (no lift) with only minor modifications to the front bumper end-caps (trimming) and after bending the splash shields slightly (forward end of the front wheelwells - can be done by hand in a few seconds). I have a 2" body lift and a 2" suspension lift and I could fit 39s if I wanted to. EDIT: Out of curiousity, I just went out in the garage and measured. I conceivably could fit 39s but I'd have to pound out one small part of the bottom/front of the rear wheelwells. I could fit 37s with room to spare no problem. Doesn't mean I'm gonna do it, though. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I'd rather not snap my axles. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" /> stock without lift im gonna do a shakle lift when i get the money for new shocks and custom brake lines

I was just curious, do you have any pics of your Montero- I like the moderate mods you have done to it and these seem like something I would like to do to mine since it is my daily driver. Also, I would like to get some aftermarket rims (15x8) for some 33's or 35's, what backspacing do I need? Thanks for helping a "newbie" out! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

Assuming you're talking about my rig, I don't have any good recent pics, but there are a number of them from last May in this post. The visual differences between then and now are: - removed roof lights - added hood louvers - 2" suspension lift added - A-pillar light - taller CB antenna - special (Marine Corps) license plates now

This seems like a great thread to ask about wheels for my GenII. I've got a 95 SR. I want to put 33s on. Will they fit with no lift? I read the thread linked to in the sticky at the top of the forum, but it addresses only Gen1s. I've already started ordering material to put a 2" body lift on- but if I could get away with only 1", cool- or if I could put 35s on with the 2" I was planning. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Also, I was planning on cruising junkyards to find some steel wheels to match the tires- that way I can keep two separate sets of wheels/tires, and use my road tires when not having fun. It is my daily driver, after all. Anyway, what kind of backspacing should I look for, if I want a given tire width? Say, 12.50 width would need a lot of backspacing, right? What is the backspacing on a stock 15" Gen2 rim? I need 6-139(6on5.5) bolt pattern- same as Chevy, so I should have plenty to choose from. so what is all needed to run 33s on a stock monty i already dont have the sides of the front bumper front bumper(had to push my friends jeep off the road after clutch blew)what else would i need to do If you're just trying to fit bigger tires and don't want to do suspension lift (add a leafs, t-bar crank) just get a simple 2" body lift from roger brown, the 33s will look like they are meant for it. Stock, the 33s will look a little stuffed and will rub like hell if you don't have the right backspacing on rims. You know Roger (Pastor) runs 33x12.5's on his Montero LWB with only the 1" Roger Brown lift. As far as 31's go I also run the 31x10.5 Big-O X/T's. It seems more and more guys around here are having good experiences with them.
