There's about 25" from radiator support to firewall which would be a close fit for a 302. At least the dizzy is in the front. Novak makes universal motor mounts to put your motor into CJ's that should work if you cut off the stock mounts on the monty frame. I'd get out the hammer to the firewall when the stock motor is out to move that as far back as possible. The main problem and probable project killer is that most Fords use a passenger drop TC. It would be easier to use 700R and TC out of an S10 blazer and adapt the 302 to that than try to get a C6 to fit a driver's drop TC. Just my 0.02. I have not ever seen a Ford/ Mitsu swap and there's probably a good reason for that.

The D44 I'm putting in my project is from a Ford. In fact, the 70s Ford axles are the most plentiful Driver Drop solid axles out there (that I've found, anyway), so there are options for a Ford drive train. 70s F-250s and Early model Broncos all used D-drop drivelines. Look around a little before you sell yourself short. Just because it isn't the popular way to do something doesn't mean it can't be done.

I won't elaborate because the cat in the bag is still kickin', but Ford stuff is on my mind for my Monty as well...

Good luck.
