I put a 302 with same setup you are talking about in my 87 Raider back in the early 90's. It hasn't been on the road for about 10 years but my goal is to get it back to running shape this summer. Only fit problem was the transmission bell housing and the transfer case and a 2 inch body lift took care of that. Only mod I had to do to the firewall was an access hole through the fire wall to make it easier to get to the top tranny to motor bolt. Motor sets perfectly right where the original motor mounts for the 2.6 were and where they are on the motor. Suprisingly there is alot of room under the hood after the install. Exhaust manifolds are easy to install but the guy who put the dual exhaust on sure did earn his money figuring out how to run it and stay out of the way of the drive train. I did away with the air conditioning. Hooking into the original wiring wasn't too difficult either. Issues I had were radiator size necessary to keep it cool. Had to mount it lower in the front and angle it back slightly to make it fit. I used dual electric fans instead of the mechanical fan. Also the 4.625 gear ratio was way to high for the setup. 0 - 60 was in about 4 seconds and anything over 60 was too much for the motor in the RPM range. Currently I have a 3.7 gear out of a Conquest in the rear and it works great up to around 85 or 90. I haven't switched the front gears out yet so I only ran it in 2 wheel drive. I replaced the stock shifter with a B&M quick click because I could never get the stock one to work right. 302 with a C6 nd NP 208 is a great setup for a Raider in my opinion. Final touch was the Mustang 5.0 symbol on the front fender. Alot of people thought it was a joke until you blew them away at a light and they say the dual exhaust sticking out the rear. If you need more detailed info I will be happy to help you out all I can.

I am liking the idea for my mighty max.I have a nice body on mine and would like to get a cheaper to fix engine into it.Looks like with your setup all you need is to fab some drive shafts.I think I would go carbed with it.

My Raider is currently in a storage area close to my house so I will get some pictures this weekend. The radiator I used was out of a Ford truck don't remember what year or model. Due to it's size I cut the top radiator/hood support off and used hood posts and pins to keep the hood shut. I also took some of the lower frame out in the front and replaced it with a piece of C channel to get the radiator in lower and provide support for it. Radiator is currently out and front of the motor (alternator, power steering pump, etc.) is currently off in preperation of doing a clean up to get it back road worthy so pictures should show fit pretty good. I will take some underneath pics too to show trans and transfer case fitting. Let me know what other pics you would like to see.
