That zerk in that location is so exposed, I'm surprised it isn't damaged or broken off more often.

That zerk is also easily sheared off by the gas tank skidplate if you flex the left rear tire upward, especially if your gas tank skidplate is a bit out of shape from "use" off-road. That has happened to me lots of times.
