Gears are not really a DIY project. You can do *some* of the prep, like removing the center section on the Isuzu axles. But, that does not work with the D44

Gear work is also expensive. It is expensive because it takes skill, some specialized tools and it is part art. The cost of the gears and/or locker are almost the smallest part of the whole deal. You want the setup to be good because if it fails, it fails in a bad and expensive manner.

Just so you are prepared. You are looking at probably ~$500/axle in labor for a shop to R&R the gears. Plus gears, plus locker. At least that much per axle for locker and gears (An ARB is even more).
