Hi guys, im new in this forum, but I?ve been reading JasonA?s engine rebuild (with the diamante piston?s, etc) and also about the Caravan Camshaft?s.

My engine is the 6g72 sohc and im gonna do a complete rebuild. Heres a summary:

-Stainless steel valves
-Valve Guides, Valve springs
-diamante pistons (0.02")
-Ported head
-Complete exhaust (headers, etc)
-Add weight to the flywheel (10%)
-Caravan Camshaft,etc,etc

I wanted to have your opinion on the diamante piston-caravan camshaft arrangement. Also I?ve been reading on the net that stainless steel valves dont work on the 6g72 for they expand too much and make useless the lash adjuster. Also would like your opinion on the flywheel.

Thanks for the help.

Hey there buddy, Jason here... Don't know if you saw all my pics... I'm in the process of redoing my Montero4x4 site but yea... I think I pretty much took the 6g72 to the limit with that build. And to tell you the truth, I wish I had that in my SR instead of my crappy 3.5 !!!

Anyways, If I were you, go with the same setup I went with, but thing is... gas prices are ALOT higher now then they were back then... (1.67 to 3.50 avg for prem) and with my setup, I had to run prem...

But hell, I have to run prem in my 3.5 SR, and I only get 16-17mpg and in my 3.0 SWB (nickname "Bronzy" damn, I loved that car!!!) I got 19-21mpg) so might as well..

PLUS !! You can vary the timing on the dist and retard it back for midgrade or cheaper stuff... simple as that.

I say go for it. And if I yank out my piece of crap 3.5, I'm doing a turbo 6g72 in my SR..

That's FOO SHO !! Best damn engine Mitsu EVAR made

Hey Jason, I?ve already made up my mind and im going with your rebuild. Here in my country gas is pretty cheap (2 dollars a full tank, I live in Venezuela) so in that matter I have no problem. Could you tell methe address of your Monty page? Id really like to see the pics and all the stuff. Thanks for your help .
