So I've been wondering this for a little while now. I've noticed that my front floorboards are often soaked with water, especially if I have my floor mats down, and the passenger side is the worse. But if I don't have floor mats down it doesn't do really do it. I'm about ready to just get rid of all my carpet... Any conclusions??

Is this after a carwash? After a rain? Or after using the A/C Or even after using the defroster?

well, it has been rainin lately but the top of my floor mats are all dry..there isn't a drop of water on them. Pluss, i just recently bought these new floor mats about a month ago when it was warm and it didn't rain then. The floor boards were dry but after i stuck my mats in i checked them a couple days later and the bottom was soaked. I don't use air conditioner cus well, it doesn't work ha

Is your windshield frame leaking? Or seal for that matter? My frame rotted through on both sides. Getting it replaced tommorrow, finally (had to wait for the glass company to come and switch the winshield into the new frame).

My floorboards were ALWAYS wet...it got so bad the driver's side floorboard rotted away and I had to cut it out and weld a new floor pan in.

The leaking windshield frame also killed the illumination on my speedometer...no, I can't see how fast I'm going unless I pass under a street lamp or I have my mini mag handy. I need a new one. I don't worry about speeding because I have the 2.5L. It CAN'T speed!!!

Anybody have one laying around?

Jeeps...ugh!!!

I think I'm gonna pull all the carpet up in the front and the back (leaving carpet in the cargo area) and eventually i guess get it coated. Hell, wranglers have no carpet anyways and i can't imagine it being built anymore different. Pluss the carpet is 12 years old so i think it's time to be pulled. OH, before i forget...i noticed that my passenger side floorboard gets pretty dang hot. Why is that?

Wouldn't it be a bit more grown-up to find and repair the leak? Just get your boyfriend to take a waterhose and slowly move it around any potential leak oppurtunity while you sit in the vehicle and monitor the appearence of water.

Have you looked to see if you have any holes in the floorboards? My CJ always had wet carpet under the floormat after it rained, but it was splashing Up from the Road!!!

If your running your defroster in the morning it's probobly because the AC condensor drain tube is plugged up and it's ending up on the floor instead of draining out the front of your firewall.
Try not running your defrost or AC for a few days and see if it dries out.

I know my CJ has drain holes in the floor pans, but I don't know about the XJs. If it does have drain holes maybe the plugs have fallen out or rotted out?
