Getting the Wheeling Fever
RbelXJ....I have the same thing going on with my 87XJ. It's not coming up from the underneath, because it happens when it's just sitting, so I'm thinking it's from the winshield too. Luckily, or not maybe, a sheet of ice flew off a car in front of me on the highway and smashed my windshield, so I have to replace it anyway, hopefully that will solve my leak. I'll let you know. I am just about to try the hose technique also, I did it on the pass window and saw nothing, windshield never occured to me.

I also have the problem with the heat on the passenger side floor, but the driver side gets pretty hot too, I just chalked it up to the exahust running directly underneath it....and it being 20 years old. I don't put too much thought into this thing, it just keeps going with 165K on it and I don't ask it too many questions.

I'm pretty sure the xjs have drain holes. But it wouldn't make sense, if the drain holes had rotted out it should drain out wouldn't it, ha. And on the windshield thing..mine use to leak on the driver side all the time. i got my window replaced though when i got a nasty crack and I told them about the leak and they fixed everything. The only problem I have with leaking every now and then is the door seals on the driver side. But that's not the issue b/c if i had water leaking in from the top the floor mats would have water collected in them b/c they are hevy duty mats. I'm gonna look at the floorboards tomorrow.

Hi,

Do the new floor mats have a vinyl, plastic, non breathing kinda material for there backing?

Reason I ask, is that the new '06 tj I'm driving came with the upscale mats as a selling point and if it snows and they get soaked from all the snow, ice that drops off onto to them, they keep the carpeting underneath them soaked til u remove em and let it dry. After it all dries then they can be placed back in. Plastic clear floor mats are even worse.

no, they are heavy duty mats...they have slots/grooves on the bottom side of them. That's the first thing I look for in floor mats

Need a Spot
Climb underneath and take a look at the floorboards they ould be rusted out, also look under the hood at the firewall for paces water can come inside.

I cannot believe the leak has not been found yet. It is such a simple task..

Well, I'm in college and just haven't had the time to really get under my jeep and look. It's finals week so it's the least of my worries right now. In fact, she's been in the same parking spot for about 5 days now. I'll get under it this weekend and thoroughly look at it...

So i think I found my problem. It rained a couple times this past week and I got in my jeep to go to class one mornin and noticed my floor mat had water collected in it. So after class I hopped around to the passenger side and noticed there was water drops located underneath the dash on the side..evidently from what I'm guessin there is some leak from the windshield in the lower corner of it. I plan to do some testing here soon to locate the precise spot...

Rebel...heheh...finals week...when it ISN'T finals week I feel like I don't even have the time to THINK let alone find time to work on the POS, the house, the wife, kid, etc...it'll pay off in the end though!!!

My parents and my grandparents ALWAYS told me...you can either work hard for 6 years (I need a master's degree) or you can work hard for the rest of your life!!! Hmmm...The military was a 4 year delay on my life but it's not gonna stop me!!!
