I'd like to see someone use a strap in a situation where it didn't get dirty <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />


Basically they say that for the same reason at rock climbing rope. Sand crystals get inside the protective covering, and as the strap moves, will start to cut the interior threads. Thats why you never step on a climbing rope, pushes the crud into it <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

So yeah, just wash it off and let it dry, and dont leave it in the sun because UV rays will start to break it down, the same way it does to a tent.


Just remember all straps eventually need to be retired for safteys sake.
