i have had my header on for over a year and so far has not leaked at all.and it did help power out,and with the tri-y i even gained some seat of the pants power down in the mid range.

The Thorley IS a much higher quality piece, and there's no reason to ceramic coat it. It has a protective chrome finish (not a "show" finish). I've had mine for several years, but I wouldn't do it again - no real performance gain that I could tell.







I always get asked what the thing attached to the header with a hose clamp is. It's the stove for the warm air tube that goes to the air cleaner. And I don't use Fram oil filters any more, either...

would the pace or toury? be better to buy i need a new manifold cuz of the 02 popin out over 1500 rpm's do any of them have the plug for the 02?

The Thorley has a bung for the O2 sensor at the collector end of the header.

The stock cast iron manifold and factory head pipe makes a Tri-Y setup just like the thorly header, the only difference being the thorly would have smoother flow being mandrel bent pipe instead of a rough cast interior. Rockauto.com sells new cast manifolds for around the $140 mark. The fact that both are Tri-Y's may account for the fact that most people don't notice a difference when switching between them. Most foreign cars make more power per liter then the equivalent sized US made engine. It seems they aren't afraid to design in power building optimizations (such as Tri-Y exhausts) where US engines tend to just look at costs (a cast straight pipe with four flanges dumping to a single outlet and seemingly cast as thin as possible). Just a thought...

so it don't really matter if i buy the tri y for good looks or get a cast iron one? which 02 thread would last longer and bad talk reviews on both?

my buddy has a d50, and had the stock manifold replaced with a pacesetter a couple years ago. according to mike, the pacesetter was a giant piece of crap, and he tossed it in favor of the thorley piece. The low end torque increases are noticeable, and seat of the pants feel in his truck is equal to the gain from the weber 38. if i keep the 2.6 i'm building for longer than the 6 months i plan to, i'll be buying a thorley header to complement my 38 as well.
