2 spiders front and rear, but I don't know what that has to do with the preload... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Awesome!!! thanks. I am using the Chilton repair manual to repair/replace my leaking pinion seal and Chilton says in step 8 of To Install: "Check the drive pinion preload with a torgue wrench. For Pick-Ups and 4Runners, correct torque is 8-11 inch lbs.(0.9-1.2 Nm) for 2-Spider gear differentials and 4-7 inch lbs. (0.4-0.8Nm) for 4-Spider gear units. Land Cruisers should be between 6-9 inch lbs.(0.6-1.0Nm)"
thanks again <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Well you don't have the same rear diff as a mini pickup, 4runner, or landcruiser. I would go with the heavier preload number for this diff. I'll see if I can find an online FSM for you...

Here you go, see the bottom of page SA-168:
http://www.deserted1.com/FSM/Repair_Manual/03tacoma/sa/rdc3rz5v/reas.pdf

The open Tacoma diff is the same as the T100 and Tundra.
