Body Damage is Cool
Well, the good part of this is that it's relatively easy to clean the intake stuff. I did it on my Rodeo before, and I think it must be the same for the 3.5DI on the Axiom. Unless the carbon build-up is really nasty one and requires manual scraping.

Very true.

In my case, Isuzu recommends I warm it up, pull the plugs, but in cleaner, let set a few hours, fire it up, clean garbage from intake, EGR, and PCV, then change oil (solvent will slip between the rings).

Sure, this is not so bad, given the alternitive. However, the idea of doing this twice a year, due to a design miss, is frustrating.

Again, it could be a lot worse.

I'm just resurrecting this post to provide a possible alternative solution: I was having problems with acceleration and stalling that my mechanic solved by cleaning the carbon build up. He suggested that I regularly use one of the top tier gas brands (go to www.toptiergas.com for more information). Long story short, after a few tank fulls the Rodeo is running as smooth as the day it was built with no stalling or acceleration issues at all.
