Why does consumer guide say that only the 2001 Rodeo is the one to own for a used Rodeo? I have four Isuzu's with automatic transmissions and my wife's 2001 is the only one that I had to replace the shifter seal and accumulator piston cover due to oil leaks. The accumulator piston seal was actually factory defective, you can see some deterioration around a discolored spot on the piston seal where the oil was leaking. Some of the polymer in the area had actually broken / flaked off leaving a void. How many owners who take their's to a mechanic would have found this or been told about it?

Hers was also the biggest leaker out of the three main seals I replaced. The 2001 gets the worst gas mileage out of the 4 - 3.2 liter engines we drive. 2001 Rodeos the better year, I don't think so. 2000 Rodeo / Amigo, better.

'94, and '00 Amigos and '00, 01 Rodeos. Rodeo springs and aftermarket 'hard top on 94. Aisin hubs OME 919's on the 2000 Amigo. 2000 and 2001 Rodeos have OME 912's and Aisin. Smoother ride with the OME 919's???

Contrary to the wines, the newer the Rodeo, the better smile

I believe that Rodeos were improving over the years, and the 2004DI Rodeo, with the new Aisin transmission, was the top of the line.

Although, the front hubs design change in 2002 was disappointing.

Aisin transmission, I thought they went back to the GM 4L60E?

No, this is the different one. The one they used with 3.5DI is related to the Jeep & Toyota transmissions.
