Getting the Wheeling Fever
I'm getting the tires of my '02 Rodeo Sport up-sized to 285/75 R16's. I already have a 3" suspension lift, 265/75 tires, and I'm using aftermarket wheels with an inch more of offset than the stock rims.

Besides the obvious front fender trimming, what else do I need to do prior to going up in tire size? Thanks!

'02 Rodeo Sport, 3.2l V6, 4WD Hardtop, 3" lift, Rancho 9000X's, StinkyFab front & rear tube bumpers, K&N Air Filter, PowerVault muffler, 285/75/16 Nitto ATs w/ steel rims, more soon...

What all does a "re-gear" involve? It sounds pretty painful
(not easily accomplished over night)... Thanks again!

Yes, your wallet will hate you <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
How does your truck feel powerwise right now with the 265/75's? I would say that re-gearing is not really a must with 33's, espeically with the 3.2, but would be ideal. I'd see how it drives first after you get the 285's and then decide if you're going to re-gear.

I'll agree. I run 32's on my DD with a much more anemic engine (2.6L 4cyl) and its very tolerable. I can't imagine regearing being a must with only 1" larger tires considering you have an additional 90~ish hp. Put them on, run it for a few weeks to see if you get used to the decreased power, then spend the bucks to regear if you think its necessary.

Even with 32" tires 3.2 Rodeo is way sluggish comparing to a stock vehicle. With 33", your ability both off-road an on-road would suffer big time. If you can tolerate it, then fine, this is about personal preferences.

I just think that 33" tires without re-gearing kill all fun of driving the vehicle. It just becomes a tiresome boring duty, not a fun how it is supposed to be.

Also, think about the stress your transmission will endure with 33" tires.

personal preference. I ran 33x12.50 on 15x8 steel(heavy) with a 95 2.6 4door rodeo. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

no really 35x12.50's are a good size for a 4dr 4cly 2wd rodeo......

With the Sohc v6 33"s seem to be where it goes from slow to gutless.
