i happen to agree with Bill and David on this one. in addition to being an off roader, im a hiker, a kayaker, a mountain biker, fisherman and hunter. when im enjoying these sports, nothing ticks me off more than seeing a torn up trail, or a run down looking clearing in the woods, trucks parked with stereos blaring and beer cans everywhere. most of the other people on this board are the same way, from what i read anyways. im a horticulturist and landscaper, i spend alot of time repairing vehicle damage to turf and natural areas ive spent alot of time working to keep natural looking and atractive.

look at it this way: this and other outdoor activities are a form of recreation, a sport to the rest of us. not a necessity. left wing enviromentalist groups look at this as a cause, some of them dedicate their entire lives to it. they are willing to take the issue much, much farther than most off roaders, and if they had their way, theyd build a wall around all the natural areas left and keep EVERYONE out. they LOOK for reasons to keep ANYONE off the trails. im not saying they are right either. but theyre the ones who use the press to cast us in a bad light. maybe they dont have a right to make a huge stink about some of the things they do, but the reality is that they do, and its up to us to be responsible, do the right thing and not give them a reason. maybe im off target, but as a person who spends alot more time outdoors than in, you HAVE to act responsibly if you wanna have your cake and eat it too.
