Getting the Wheeling Fever
Ya, your right about the exhaust, a guy can get it straight & level again . I did go check the underside of the piston as you questioned for color, it is dark pretty much black ,not much darker than the rest of the pistons though. Is it a lack of oil on the one side of the piston & pin where the oil hole was plugged with carbon? There is a slight scoring in this area of the piston! This is worrying me ,cause of the piston having a slight restriction on movement .Will it be OK to use in the engine , or is this coming to an end?! If I can today ,I'll try & borrow my neighbors digital camera & take a picture so I can show you the piston. But if I can't your feed back would be appricated. Thanks

In a nice running engine the underside of the pistons will remain a golden color. The hotter a piston gets it starts burning on the oil, this is the dark color.
Basically it means the pistons got hot, you know that already though.
The piston pins loosen with temperature. Use a penetrating oil to see if it will get into that tight pin. You can warm the piston with a propane torch and see if it does free up with moderate temperature. Maybe the oil will get in better when warm also.

Got camera , here's the pics hopefully they turned out [Linked Image] [Linked Image] [Linked Image]
You can see what I was talking about the rust marks after honing ,I still haven't done the acid trick yet.
The one with the red straw shows you where the carbon was plugging the oil passage to the pin.
This is still the same piston for the # 1 cylinder notice the scoring that I was taking about, what do you think?

The rust looks to be a characteristic of an engine that sat for some time and got moisture at the top of a piston.
I am guessing the some of the rings were stuck?
The scoring is not on the pressure face of the pistons. Since the skirts look good, I would try to free up the tight pin and then run them. Any high spots can be cleaned down on the pistons, File, stone, sand paper, something like that.

Hey Charlie, glad you replied back
All I could do is wait, wonder & worry !Woooooeeee I didn't do a thing after taking the pics,so the scoring part of the #1 piston is nothing to get freaked out about I was thinking like a wet 600 grit with a crosshatch pattern sanding should do the job "YA NO YA"? Or do you have something to suggest better The block didn't take much to turn over when I got the truck, but when I pulled the plugs out they had signs of rust. It definitely still had water & antifreeze when I drained the oil , about three or four cups full before the oil started coming out after from the drain plug .
I did have the piston soaking in gas over night.I'll try some more penetrating oil & heat up the back side of piston around the pin to draw in the oil.Like you said, if it'll work I guess we'll see?Hope & pray ...hope & pray. Would this cause a piston knock if it did loosen up to much? What is binding that piston (making it stiffer than the others) ? Carbon or aluminum from the piston pin bore attaching itself to the pin? The pin on that side from underneath through the oil hole has a blue ting to it (heat) But no aluminum sighting. Thanks again

Just to add my opinion acid will remove the rust but if you have pits they will retain oil and can affect ring sealing. Pits on crankshafts are ok, but not in cylinders.
Also have a shop mic that piston.. scoring like that says heat!! I suspect that it may have a collapsed skirt.

Pistons aren't really that much in $$$

That funny line of light dark on the piston skirt that starts from the slot in the oil ring groove might be a cracked piston skirt.

I would take a very close look at it.
