I am just wondering if all that rust had anything to do with the stock brackets bending. I am with Erik on this one, I ran a Pro-Crap II for a couple of years and never bent the stock brackets. I was not easy on it and I only had to repair one of the kit brackets and replace the kicker tubes once. I sold it to Erik and he ran it for a few years then when he did his SAS he sold it to another guy for more then I sold it to him for.

I too was surprised to see that the factory brackets had bent. I had only seen that once before on a friends yota where the rear bracket actually snapped off the framerail. He was running brand new 14.5 boggers though which should not be put on an ifs truck. His truck was as rust free as mine in the pics.
Yes, I call those pics rust free. There is surface rust only on my custom brackets which I never painted, and on the factory brackets from after they bent (as we all know when a painted metal bends, the paint cracks and allows rust). If you look in the pics, you can see there is a color difference between the surface rust on the brackets and the dried mud on the framerail. My frame up front has factory paint on it - what you see in the pics is dried up mud as the camera flash is deceiving. I mean sure, there is some surface rust in select spots, but the frame and brackets were not weakened from rust.
One possible reason the factory brackets bent that I can think of is with all the drop brackets tweaked the force on the factory brackets was applied in a way they were not designed to take. Idk. I do know that I went through about 3 drop brackets before a factory bracket tweaked - the factory ones certainly lasted longer than the drop brackets.

Diddo on this problem, and it's still causing trouble. Here's my original breakage: If it makes you feel any better they have changed and upgraded the diff bracket you've had so much trouble with. It's definitely re-enforced and the washers that you don't appear to have used in this pic aren't necesarry anymore... I ordered the new bracket from SuperLift, cost me an arm and a leg. Yes it is a significantly different design, what I thought to be a big improvement, but one day on the trail and it too was broken. SAS is calling my name.

Here's a pic of the new bracket, broken on Dusy/Ershim yesterday. Also note the new angle of the stock mount. What a mess. ![[Linked Image]](http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u296/Blossom2468/4Runner/4d468faa.jpg)

its pretty obvious that there are some problems with IFS lifts, but for daily driving are they really that bad?
