Just got my first Monty (91 LWB)after years of wanting one. When I was younger I had several 4x4s including a CJ7, 2 Cherokees and Grand wagoneer that my wife drove most of the time while I got the sh*t car van to drive(isn't that how it works in your family?)

Anyway, before pulling the front door panels off my truck,can anyone tell me what diameter speaker will drop in at the bottom of the panel? Crutchfield says a 5", but most speakers in that size arena are 5.25" I don't want to have to cut the metal of the door hole and would rather fabricate some type of extender ring to allow the speaker's grill to mount, maybe 1/2" to 1" away from the face of the panel. Thus the rear of the speaker could probably fit in the hole.

I scoured the archives for info but didn't find anything related to front door speakers.

Any ideas or pics from what you've done in your truck? Will be adding a sub and power amp(s) and will also tie-in the existing dash speakers.
