Getting the Wheeling Fever
Motor is gone, any suggestions as what to snag? ECU under stereo pod worth getting? Tailgate is gone but topper still there with nice side slider frames. No skid plate, grrr. Got a perfect AC trim plate, clock, fan swith, and the heater core flow diverter for $6! Sweet!

check the diff codes! if you run larger than stock tires with the 22re(like me), thats alot of why its gutless. im pretty sure all 3.0 auto runners came with 4.56 gears.

off-road.com has a gear code ID page, iirc

If it's an 86, it was either a 22RE or a 22RTE.

The gears were either 4.10:1 or 4.30:1, depending on transmission.

Don't overthink this one...
