The thread is old but it varifies what I experienced earlier this year. I had a fast idle and I did all the things mentioned in the FSM and by folks here on the forum. I was scared away from buying a new TB by the price, so I took a chance and went to car-parts.com and found a wrecking yard in ID that had a TB for my 89 3.0. I got it for $65 including shipping to WA. My idle is now adjustable and stable right on spec. Since the guys here say it is a rare failure, your chances of getting your idle fixed with a used TB may be pretty good.
