Need a Spot
I have been experiencing MAJOR vibration issues with a vehicle I purchased 2.5 mos ago. I had the vehicle tuned up (sparks and wires) and replaced the 3 different brands of tires with 4 brand new of the same during the first month of ownership.

I started experiencing an annoying vibration about a day after I replaced the tires. I purchased a full set of 4 Geolanders and since then have had the wheels "balanced" 4 times. Last week the Discount Tire I purchased the tires from ordered me a new set and installed them today. I still feel the vibrations.

I had a problem with the rear differentials leaking onto the drums and causing the shoes to stick but the dealership "fixed" that. (I am now experiencing a severe leak due to their not re-sealing the differentials and repacking the bearings and am dealing with a foul odor from the burning oil and constant sticking when attempting to put the vehicle in gear) I am also fighting with the dealership to provide documentation of what they did when they "repaired" the brake problem so that I can go from there to deduce the problem.

The vibrations are so severe, I cannot see out of the rear view mirror!

Today the tire guy said that I had something wrong with an axle that was squeaking in the front or possibly a u-joint. Even after replacing the tires, there is still a vibration problem.

I am at a total loss here, AND I'm broke from all the other crap. I did read somewhere that it could be related to a transmission shaft bearing?

I am lost.

Help, please, if not for me, for Rudy! (see pic above)

Cheers,
Heather

Have you had the rims checked for straightness, if one or several rims are slightly bent you might get this problem. Of course the tire place should have picked that up.

Roll Me Over
oh where to begin...

bent rims mentioned... check

tires R&R... check

driveline issues? possible bad u-joints?

bent driveshaft?

tweaked axle housing?

one thing to check is if you have a friend who can mount the rims and tires on their vehicle and check if the problem is recreated.

then put on their rims and tires on your vehicle and recheck.

sometimes, if you rotate the tire on the rim, say 180 degrees, that could even out the bad spot on either the rim or the tire.

also, bad front rotors could have been WARPED enough that they are causing the vibrations...

How fast are the vibrations?

Vibration frequency at wheel speed would point to wheels, tires, and/or axles.

Driveline vibrations would be much higher in frequency (like 4.10 times higher...)
