I'm a recovering K&N addict...I have them in my 'T, 4Runner two of them on my VW (dual carbs) but I'm going to get rid of them and go back to OEM like other people have said. My problem with them has been keeping them oiled, seems once they dry-out their done filtering anything, so the 'T and 4Runner are going back to paper filters and the VW foam Uni filters (since it's mainly used off-road).

FWIW I recently read an article about AEM filters which are a K&N-type filter though they never need to be re-oiled which might be a benefit if you really wanted to stay away from OEM or paper filters.
