How about using tire repair cement to seal the bead to the rim?

Probably would not work. That is a solvent that partially dissolves the rubber and lets the patch vulcanize to the softened rubber before it cures. On the rim's metal bead lip it would just evaporate as there is nothing for it to bond to.

I ran Pritchett Canyon today at 5psi without issues. As far as I can tell, so far, this beadlock method works great.

OK, after Pritchett one day and Behind the Rocks the next, I think these things are the real deal. No issues running at 5psi or a little less both days, including driving a little too fast on the dirt road that is the end of both of these trails. The only thing left is to test them in water, but I'm optomistic they'll work fine.

could you explain the BBs in the tire for me,I kinda understand what it would do but Im not sure ,I might like to try it. thanks

I used plastic pellets from the sporting goods store, but the idea is the same: Loose weight inside the tire moves across from the heavy spot(s) as the tire rotates. For wheelers, it works better than the hammered on weights most tire stores use because your tire spins on the wheel at low pressures, or doesn't wear evenly over time.

After much trial and error, I had the tire store spin each tire as if they were going to "patch balance" it. (Patch balancing involves sticking the weight to the inside surface of the tire.) Then I put in that weight in pellets. My 4Runner with 17x13.50 Pitbulls still rides terribly, but way better than it ever did with any other balancing method. When I replace my tow rig's tires, I'm planning to balance them the same way. You can hear the pellets at really slow speeds, but not above the din either of my rigs make. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />

What if the bead breaks with the sealant in place? I assume when this happens, the sealant will have to be removed in order to reseat the bead to get an airtight seal. Or can the bead be reseated as is-with sealant in place?

I got to run these through several creeks over the weekend, with no issues. I have noticed that I get strings of sealant hanging off the tires after most runs, but I think that might be because I used a little too much sealant and didn't smear it on the mounting surface like ZUK suggested. I've not heard any air burping out yet.
