Can't help you with the rest, but I had to have my alternator rebuilt because of a bad regulator. Same thing as yours with a built in pump. They repacked all the bearings and would have replaced if required. I also got new brush holders put in. All for under $200cdn. So, I'd advise you to just pull yours out and get it rebuilt.
