I have been wanting to do something insane with my Raider since I got it and have been reading the posts here religiously. I had this need to modify my rig like my buddies in their Jeeps and Zookies and Toyotas. FINALLY.. I have found it... I have read enough on this site about which V6 or V8 fits and now I have found the ingredients for this:

[Linked Image]

Thats right.. Everything that people have said CANT be done... well .. anything can be done... Solid front axle

44" TSLs.... oh yea!

Ok.. so this guys attempt at fender extensions suck... I can do better than that!!
Check out the Aussie pics website:
web page

The truck is going into the shop in about a months time. I have been lucky enough to find locally almost everything I need.

-Choice of Chev V8 or Ford V8 with matching transmissions
-Choice of transfer cases, probably going with the NP231
-Choice of axles.. yes.. SOLID Front
-35" tires... still want to drive on the road!

No worries people.. I will be documenting everything

nobody said it can't be done. If you look at Landraider his rig is one of the biggest monuments to the idea of Gen1 Frankensteins. Its not hard to do what he did, just need to know how to use a welder. With a 6 inch IFS lift and a moderate body lift 44s wouldn't be impossible for the factory hardware (aside from the idea of going 20mph on the level with stock gears)

I think they make 39.5 crawlers.

That is going to be cool, keep us updated.

I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

I'd recommend another case behind a v8. It's a good case and all, but if I were piecing together the drivetrain that you are, I'd do something different. An np241, or D300 (flipped or not), etc would be better than the np231.

I really like the dana t\cases so i do agree with nathan Strength gear choices, shorter than np231 even with SYE.

x2 I was bouncing around my property on the 33s the other day.. and looking at the front wheel while climbing the IFS didn't look too happy hopping up and down on some of the rock piles back there. Not to mention the downward travel that is just nonexistant.

SAS is the only way to go..

BTW.. fleabag.. if you're doin it, might as well spring for D60s.. even D44s can break with 44" tires on your rig. Don't forget your exocage.. cause I can see that truck going over.
