Better get out the welder for all of that. smile

Seriously.... thats about $1500 in tools, and about 3k in parts to do.

Welllll worth it in the long run.

IF I wanted to go full width, I could put some wide 60's under my current leafs with as big of tires as you want. 49's prob. I bet the driveshafts would hook right up.

Like I said before!!! Get out the welder!!! I like welding. smile

You need to purchase, and learn how to use the following

220 Stick welder.
Portaband
torch set
Grinder with lots of disks, and wheels
135 amp mig welder (with alum spool if you want to splurge)
all sorts of other misc small stuff.

The whole point behind this build is to still have a semi road worthy vehicle so I dont have to trailer this everywhere. I have been lucky enough to find a few lunatics around here with all of the tools and combination of parts. Yes, in the end, it will only be a Raider shell on top of a modified frame and suspension build up. When gutting out the truck, anything is possible. We have the welding equipment, chop saws, machining equipment and lifts. Everyone locally to me has jumped on the bandwagon of doing this build as I told them from the beginning, anything is possible. The funniest part is that I have Zookie, Jeeps, and Toyota guys all arguing which stuff I should use. THIS is what has been brought to the shop to CHOOSE from:
-ford 5.0
-CHev 305 or 350
-Combination of a few different transmissions that match the Ford or GM blocks
-NP231 t/c
-several different axles, YES.. the front WILL be solid
-several different rim and tire combinations. I would say the largest I would go is 36", but thats just because I want to still drive on the road and creating the fender flares will be interesting.
I will begin taking pics of the build once the guys are done with their current Jeep build and then its my turn.

ON a side note: 4crawlerz website has been unable to process any orders for quite sometime. I have been wanting to order a 2" body lift kit but the store is "not open". The open date keeps getting moved by 2 weeks. Weird??

Hahaha Yea. I am not going for any pretty bling truck awarrds. This truck is going to be abused after its been built! As for the welding.. thank god for the great 4x4 community that I have become friends with in my area. Everyone has been bugging me to stop with the wishy washy dreams of building something without some concrete plans. So now I have let my friends know where I am going with this build and I am getting offers from a bunch of people to assist in everything. It helps that I have become friends with the Zookie crowd and their modifying madness. A few of the old style Jeep owners are able to understand what I am doing, but the new Jeep owners are too easily confused and ask "Why build it, if you could just buy a Jeep?" and I usually break out in laughter and say, "why would I want to buy a mobile home when I can build a custom home and have more fun doing it?.... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I will have some pictures of the start of this by the middle of May.

"Why build it, if you could just buy a Jeep?"

That statement only works for a rubicon or a prebuilt jeep.

Or perhaps your local buddies with stock jeeps don't run 33's.

Otherwise, all serious off road jeep owner know you don't just buy one, you build one.
