Need a Spot

Hi there everybody, i have finished rebuilding my 4ze1 with new main/rod bearings, piston rings seals, thrust washers etc. Just want to know from those of you that have replaced the thrust washers, which is the correct orientation to install these. I was assumed that the "smooth" side faced the crank lobe and the other side, say the "notched" side faced the no 3 bearing cap??? can someone confirm this, much appreciated
