Did you just take out the torsions then torch the brackets letting everything else fall? Trying to see what I need to unbolt/remove before cutting the main IFS horns.

lets see.. I unbolted the torsion bars/upper ball joints and that took care of the upper control arms. Then I unbolted the pitman arm, idler arm and steering stabilizer. Then I torched the four ifs brackets. Then I unbolted the rubber diff mounts and everything dropped out.

I ran the torch out oxygen half way through the first shackle tube hole . Is it possible to do those with a hole saw? I hope?

Yes, I bought a 2" hole saw, make sure it's bi-metal. Some vendors recommend a hole saw, but they say you'll still need a torch to blow out some webbing inside the frame.

Never even gave the hole saw a try. I forgot I had cutting rods for my welder. They worked almost as good as the torch did. Got both shackle tube holes cut:

Three of the four holes I cut came out just about as tight as that one. The 4th is a little sloppy but will be fine.

Also cut the ifs brackets off a little closer, gotta grind everything down tomorrow:

And a pic of my work area just for fun. I'm out of the driveway because I gotta be up near the house to use the 230V welder.. I don't mind it much.

More tomorrow

Im not sure that I'd feel comfortable working under there with just the jackstands for support. If one slips youre done. I would personally use a hi lift on the front bumper for backup. Be safe....we dont wanna loose ya!

ya, the jackstand looks pretty sketchy in that pic Its not like that in person. Truck won't budge on the good ol' push test. Thanks for your concern though

I agree, if I were you I will add some more support down there. You can at least place you tires one on top of the other under the frame or cross-member somewhere.

I got two jack stands that hold 6 tons each and still I don't trust using them by themselves, What if whomever was in charge of placing the info sticker on them mixed them up and stick'em on the smaller stands

I grenaded a tensioner somehow... Great service as always from EB - sending me a new one free of charge once he gets the pieces of my old one. This is what was in the oil pan

Got the axle all painted and about halfway through the rebuild. Put a Detriot EZ locker in the rear axle, and put that welded diff in the front. The ring gear in my welded diff was missing three teeth so i replaced that too...

Not much progress on the actual frame - been raining too much

Nicest this axle will ever look again:
