One previous four wheeling buddy had a TJ 4-cylinder: he, too, always said he like his Jeep. He was more than an average offroad driver, as well. He commonly confessed how hard he had to push his engine to keep-up with the others travelling on the I-70 over the mountains toMoab. Damn, if he didn't try just about every obstacle that came our way with his stock axles, 33 inch tires, rear axle lunch box locker and budget boost suspension lift.
Last trails we did together in Moab a few years ago caused him to reconsider some of the dangerous obstacles we'd been doing and goals he had in his personal life. I may have done the same if I hadn't easily climbed this near vertical 30 to 40 foot slickrock wall; he, on the otherhand, lost traction just as his front tires neared the top edge of the slickrock wall climb! He stayed on the gas pedal, tires chriping wildly, and made it over the top edge! White-knuckled? Yes!
Much later that day he made known just how much that particular climb had affected him. We both could have dropped 30 to 40 feet in our Jeeps. But we didn't. He sold his Jeep several weeks later.
