Body Damage is Cool
Well, I think they're worth checking out. Mine is now my daily driver, for which I traded in a 2002 Saturn on which the 5-year extended warranty had just expired. Since I got the Trailblazer equipped with the towing stuff, I was able to privately sell my 91 Dodge Cummins, which I only used as a tow vehicle for the Jeep. Now the Chevy can do hhat.

1977 CJ-7, fiberglass body, AMC 360 w/ headers, DUI ignition, Edelbrock intake and Holley 4150 carb, TF999, Dana 300, 4.56 gears lockers, York air comp, 4" susp lift, 2" body lift, BFG 35" M-T tires, Megashifter, AGR pump & box, REP8000 winch.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Quote
I am interested in purchasing a CJ to tow one of my cars. I know it's short wheelbase does not make it ideal for this task. However, I have always been in love with Jeeps, and the military is sending me across the country.

So, I need to buy a truck to tow my Trans Am, and I figure this is my opportunity.

What do you think the towing capacity of a 1981 CJ with a 440 ci V8 would be? Obviously, I'd need to get a Class III hitch welded to the frame.

Thanks!
Bill

Go ahead and buy the CJ (getting more expensive everyday). Put the hitch on the T/A and tow the CJ away. You didn't mention if the T/A ran or not, if not sell and buy the CJ.
