Getting the Wheeling Fever
My '89 STD pickup came with a bench seat that I couldn't stand any longer. I had a couple of Subaru buckets to throw in the truck but I had to knock off a couple of the original mounts and fab up a couple new ones so the seats would bolt in.

Of course then I wanted an armrest and some kind of center console for storage so I went to town building one. Materials used were 1/2 plywood, some spray adhesive, a wool blend material for covering (like speaker box material), 1" high density foam and cotton batting to pad the armrest, black vinyl to cover the armrest, and some aluminum stock and diamond plate for trim. I'm really happy with how it came out.

You can see pics of the build from start to finish by clicking here.

I welded in a nut at the front, and drilled and tapped then welded a peice of 1/4" flat stock for the rear mounting holes. The 3 bolts hold the console to the floor very well.

Thanks for the sweet write up. Also enjoyed looking at your engine and garage. At least I'm not the only one with 800 projects I'm half in the middle of

Yeah, my Subaru is actually my real project several years in the works. I didn't plan on doing any of this work to my truck which I bought as a DD but oh well ***** happens Once the truck is back up and running and I recover a bit from the cost I'll be back on the monster Subaru job smile

Need a Spot
That's a sweet console, man. And I really dig the Subaru buckets in there. Looks good.

I've been thinking about buying a friend's 95 Ext cab, and this write up may have just made me decide to make the purchase (his has the bench seat, but my 89 std cab had buckets)

Sold my 89 Toyota 4x4, bought a 94 Cherokee.
