I see spacers advertised for throttle bodies and carbs that claim an increase in power.I have a friend with a mach shop that I think could cut me one out of alum. if I provided the patern.Would this be worth while?

The throttle body spacers are snake oil.

But, if you really want to have a spacer made, then how about making it 3 feet thick so you can use it like a snorkel?

Or maybe you could get one of those turbo tornado things that spin the air up as it goes down the intake. I've got friends who swear by them but I just can't bring myself to accept thier reality.

Body Damage is Cool
Spacers under a carburetor are a very real, and very old, tuning technique. They create or enhance a plenum, which changes the signal or pulses the the carburetor sees. Almost always this works on the top end, at the expense of bottom end performance. It's not typically something you want on an off road crawler.

With throttle bodies, there is no venturi in front of the throttle blade(s), so it shouldn't make any difference. That said, sometimes it does. Don't know that it will on a Toyota engine, particularly an R series, as I've never seen the dyno runs comparing them.

I have used a five gas analyzer at and as sson as you put a tornado in it does reduce hydrocarbons (unburnt fuel) in the exhaust
