Theres alot of talk going around about the lower lubricity of the new low sulfur diesel, but i havent seen any comments on here. Wondering if anyone has any ideas about? If an additional fuel additive should be used to compensate for the lack of sulfur in the fuel? I have heard the sulfur is not the actual lubrication element ,it is the components that are refined out of the diesel to remove the sulfur, so with sulfur goes the lubrication. Just worried about the injector pump really...

Here in Minnesota, diesel is required to be a 2% biodiesel blend. Biodiesel is supposed to provide excellent lubricity, so you could always add some if you're worried. Or, even better, use B100.

I don't think there is much to worry about using ULSD as-is, though.

I've been running my truck on low sulphur diesel since 01 on and off, been low sulphur only for about 18 months here.

No problems. But I have an inline pump which is oil lubed.

Here in Wyoming we have the Low Sulfer now as well, I dont drive a deisel but I have plenty of friends they see a difference in power and mileage. Whats worse is that some of them even have the bed mounted Fuel tank. 60% of our Fuel stations will only allow a certain amount of fuel to be purchaced at a time. so you have to go somewhere else to fill your Auxillary tank if you need to. It really is stupid that they have to go somewhere else to buy fuel after they already filled up. My Boss drives a Dmax 3500 and just bought a 150 GAL Fuel tank. it cost him the last time he filled it about 345.00 about. WOW <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" /> That and he had to go somewhere else to finish filling it. But one thing they will all tell you is a differnce in power and fuel mileage. I dont drive a deisel so I cannot back up the claim's. This is what Im told.
