Need a Spot

Can anyone tell me the difference between these two diesel engines, besides the displacement. I know the 4JB is 2.8 liters and the 4JG is 3.1 liters (I'm told and have read), but are the two blocks the same, but different displacement? Will the same transmissions bolt up? Etc? Just what is the difference?
