I have a '86 4Runner that mechanically is in fantastic shape but has been deemed unsafe by the province due to rust and whatever else and therefore needs to be fully inspected before it can be plated again. There is a bit of work that would need to be done in order to get it back on the road but I just came across a '86 2WD Toyota truck that's cheap, can be plated, but looks ugly as hell.
Now my question is, if I decide to buy the truck and want to ever turn it into a 4x4 can I pull the body off the 4Runner and truck and swap them over? How difficult of a job would this be?
Is the frame/mounts and everything the same from 4Runner to Truck or is there a fair bit of difference?

Likely the front 4 mounts would line up, the rear 6 would need to be moved and welded in place.
